GRADING POLICIES
2018-2019
1. Be on time and be prepared for class.
2. Pay attention during class.
3. Always try your best on homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests.
4. Clean up after yourself.
5. Be respectful to others.
Note: All school rules and regulations apply in the classroom.
- Submit all assignments on time.
- Make-up work is accepted only when students have an excused absence. Each student will have 1 days per day missed to make up any assignment.
- Be prepared with: Math workbook, an agenda, 4 folders (one per quarter), lined paper and plenty of pencils with erasers.
2. Pay attention during class.
- When the teacher is giving instructions/explaining something on the board, listen carefully.
- If a classmate has a question or comment, listen carefully as well.
- If you have a question/comment, raise your hand quietly and wait for the teacher to call on you.
- If the teacher raises her hand in the air, it is an indication to settle down and listen for instruction.
3. Always try your best on homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests.
- Extra help is always available- please let me know if you need help: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK: I AM HERE FOR YOU!
- We will always review before a quiz or test-make sure to pay attention during the review and ask questions if you do not understand: QUESTIONS ARE OKAY! THEY HELP YOU TO LEARN
4. Clean up after yourself.
- Do not leave any garbage behind.
- You will be dismissed from class once your area is tidied up.
5. Be respectful to others.
- Be respectful to other students’ property and school property.
- Be respectful to all teachers/staff.
- Be respectful to others’ personal spaces.

APEX FRIENDSHIP MIDDLE GRADING POLICY
For unexcused late work:
For absent work:
For grade recovery:
- Late work is defined as any work that was not turned in during the class period on the day it was due.
- Assignments submitted late will receive an 11% deduction, leaving students with the maximum potential grade of 89%.
- Any work not submitted within two weeks of the original due date will remain a zero with no further opportunity to regain credit.
For absent work:
- If a student is absent, it is the responsibility of the student to obtain and complete any missed assignment(s)-WCPSS policy is followed.
- If a student is absent for up to 3 days, the student has 1 day for each day absent to make up his/her work.
- If a student is absent for more than 3 days, they have 2 days for every day they were out to make up their work. No penalty for make-up work completed in the time frame stated above.
For grade recovery:
- Students who earn a 69% or below have the opportunity to complete test corrections during Smart Block.
- The student must complete the corrections at school within 3 days of the assessment being returned.
- The maximum score a student can receive for the corrections is 70%.
